Do you find yourself looking around at your present situation, thinking, What have I made of myself? What have I invested in myself? Or the scary one, what or who have I become?
Seriously, this has been my question to myself for the past month, "What do I want to be when I grow up?".
Think about it. As a child growing up you had dreams, goals, aspirations, maybe even a plan. Although, through the years, those things may have changed. There was still a desire to be more, to be something or somebody. No one says, when I grow up I want to be a nobody. Even if the "Somebody" you want to be is unclear, the answer is never, a "nobody". Be it a dream of being a model shifts to being a designer, or being a doctor shifts to becoming a nurse, a teacher to a professor, or a mechanic to an automobile creator. Maybe a change even more drastic, like aspiring to be a pilot shifts to becoming a daycare owner. The fact of the matter is, everyone at some point in life desires or makes plans to be Somebody, something, or just make a difference.
Somewhere down the road, Life happens. Then, what.... happens to our dreams, goals, desires.....our plans?
They get pushed aside, put on the back burner, ignored, forgotten, labeled unattainable, not practical, or just changed and redirected. Whatever the reason, those once said dreams and aspirations don't appear that BIG anymore. They're not headlined on the marquis in flashing lights.....Introducing, to the world, the wonderful, talented, well-known, intelligent, Dr, Writer, Dancer, Captain......(your name here)!
We settle, for whatever comes next, the next best thing. Not everyone, obviously....because the dreams came from someone. Either we saw or read what it looked like to be this person. But now, it's not so clear anymore. All we see is what's right in front of us. Whether it's family, friends, marriage, kids, debt.....life. Our success and failures. Our regrets and "not yets".
So, what now? Then, What?......
Do you start over, revert back to childhood dreams and schemes? Do you reroute the plan? Do you make a new plan? Back to the drawing board?
For some, YES! For others, not a chance.
Yes, because it's never too late! Right? There is still time. It's not over till it's done. You have nothing to loose, no one or nothing holding you back, no one depending on you to make it work. That's the optimum circumstance.
But what about those that have everything to lose, people watching and waiting, dependents needing you to make a move. Just do something, it really doesn't matter at this point in life, what that something is, "just do it"! Reality check, it's easier said than done. Shoot, keeping it real, sometimes its just plain scary.
The fear of failure and disappointment stands in your way. Everyone is counting on you to make it, waiting on you to fake it, hoping you don't break it!
Do you find yourself reaching a point in life where, just doing something is just not good enough?
Then, What?.............
This is so powerful! Questions we can all relate to. So many times we find ourselves living the dreams of others, in someone elses shadow, or following in someone elses footsteps! We can be quick to neglect ourselves. Knowing who you are and who's you are is the key as well as love. We tend to look for love in all the wrong places. Putting all of our trust in man just to be let down. Our Father loves us in spite of it all. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Having a relationship with Him will allow us to know what our True purpose is in life that will answer all of the above questions and many more. I applaud your leap of faith to inspire the world with this blog. I'm looking forward to your next post.

ReplyDeleteI was truly blessed by reading this! I found the question asked is something everyone at one point in their life could relate to. We as people just need to set back and seek what God purpose is for our life. People most of the time get caught up as being people pleasers of man not ourselves. We need to focus on the one that holds all power in his hand and that is Jesus Christ Almighty our creator.I want to encourage you to keep pushing forward in faith because if God gave you this vision the only way your going is up. Keep your hand in the Masters hand and it will all work together for the good.
God Bless You!!!!
May God Bless you as well! Thank you for taking the time to read and leave a comment. Thank you for the encouraging words and blessings.

Then what how powerful two words can make of a person or situation. Often time we as Followers of Christ would have a then what attitude for Christ truly seeking him for all that he is an we can then what Lord because we would be allowing the Spirit lead us and as we go a little farther we ask God then what we are then constantly in relationship with our Father but u have wrote a mouthful
